Victory over the devil

Weekly Bible Study #9

This week both the songs and message are about Victory, in particular I want to share about us having victory over the devil. I have just a few scriptures for you that tie together well and help us understand that the Devil has no power over us, he only has as much power as we grant him.

James 4:7 NLT
7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Matthew 4:8-11 NKJV
8 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”
10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you,[d] Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”[e] 11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

Here we see that all Jesus needed to do was tell the devil to leave and he did. A lot of people don’t realize that as children of God we have authority over the Devil, so they allow themselves to be bullied. But remember this, next time the devil is trying to tempt you or trying to influence you simply resist him.

You will likely find it is quite enjoyable to rebuke the devil. “Satan I rebuke you in the name of Jesus!” What’s that sound? Its the sound of the devil fleeing.
